Dieser Band dokumentiert zwei Studientage des Zentrums für Augustinus-Forschung an der Universität Würzburg

Der 16. Augustinus-Studientag war Augustinus als Pädagogen gewidmet. Peter Gemeinhardt, Konrad Vössing, Therese Fuhrer, Elisabeth Reil und Winfried Böhm werfen Schlaglichter auf das frühe Christentum als Bildungsreligion, auf das spätantike Schulwesen in Afrika, auf Augustins musikalisches Lernprogramm in ‹De musica›, auf seine religionspädagogische Theorie und Praxis in ‹De catechizandis rudibus› sowie auf Spuren augustinischen Denkens in der Pädagogik der Neuzeit.

Der 17. Augustinus-Studientag setzte sich mit Augustinus als Sprachtheoretiker auseinander. Lenka Karfíková, Tobias Uhle, Alfons Fürst und Johannes Brachtendorf untersuchen das Sprachkonzept von ‹De quantitate animae›, die Grenzen der Gottesrede in Augustins Frühschriften, das Wahrheitsgebot in den zwei ‹Lügenschriften› und die Auseinandersetzung Wittgensteins mit augustinischer Bedeutungstheorie.
